Food and Toy Drive

You can make this holiday season bright for local families and children by donating to the City of Mississauga’s Food & Toy Drive.

Unwrapped toys and non-perishable food items can be left under the tree in the Great Hall of the Civic Centre and will go directly to the Salvation Army’s Christmas assistance program. Last year, over 2,200 Mississauga families, including more than 3,600 children, received assistance with food and toys through this program.

Ankara Kitaplığı Öykü Ödülleri Sahiplerini Buldu

Ankara Kitaplığı beşinci öykü yarışmasının sonuçlarını 4 Kasım Pazar günü kitaplık merkezinde Başkonsolos Ali Rıza Güney’in de katıldığı törende açıkladı.

Bu yıl beşincisi düzenlenen Ankara Kitaplığı Öykü yarışmasına katılan eserler Prof. Aysan Sev’er, Osman Baran, Varol Karslıoğlu'ndan oluşan seçici kurul tarafından özenle okunarak değerlendirildi.

Buna göre;

Yarışmaya Kitchener’dan katılan Arzu Atılgan "Eflatun Denizde Gümüş Gemi" isimli eseri ile birinci,  Calgary’den katılan Yasemin Bolkan "Okyanusta Yunus Olsam” isimli eseri ile ikinci, Kaslo’dan katılan Mustafa Özkoçak “Arayış” isimli eseri ile üçüncü oldular.

Verdun’dan Şule Tomkinson “Mapusa'da Gözleri Gözlerimi Mapus Etti”, ve Richmond Hill’den 9 yasındaki ümit veren genç yazar Erin Ricaloğlu da “The Wallaby" isimli eserleri ile özendirmeye uygun görülen öyküler olarak ödüllendirildiler.

Kanadalı Türklerin deneyimlerinin, geçmişe özlemlerinin, sosyal hayatın bir parçası olarak başarılarının anlatıldığı göçmenlik hayatımızın bir kesitinin ve içimizdeki umut veren genç yazarlarımızın engin hayal gücü ve yaratıcılığını bir araya getiren öykü yarışmalarımız hem anadilde yazmayı ve kalıcı eserler bırakmayı teşvik ederken hem de içimizdeki yetenekli yazar adaylarını cesaretlendirerek onların edebiyat dünyasında yer almalarına yardımcı oluyor
